Numerous unconfirmed reports have reached the War Department that in various overseas theaters the Army has participated, and in certain areas is now participating, the the operation, supervision, sanction, designation, or condoning of brothels, so called "G-I. House of Prostitution" for the convinence of military personnel and for the purpose of verereal disease control. There is nothing in the official reports to indicate that prostitution is being supported by the Army in theaters of operation; however, the fact that rumor presists that such conditions exists makes it advisable for the War Department to reaffirm its attitude on this subject.
