Examines the availability for qualified African area specialists for future military commitments in Sub-Saharan Africa. Reviews possible requirement for personnel with either formal area oriented training or with adequate background in particular areas of Africa. The potential for meeting possible requirements from existing resources is examined. Three programs for expanding the nucleus of area oriented personnel are discussed.
