Program presents an overview of the American civil war and its developmental changes as the war progressed. It describes the impact of tactics upon the commanders in the field and how they learned to adapt or be replaced by a new generation of commanders. How technology impacted the war and the long term vision that would carry America's Army forward for good or ill is also discussed.
