In 2007, only 4.3% of Army general officers were women. This is a collection of interviews with a sample of 23 women active duty Army general officers. "Seven themes emerged that may provide leaders with factors" which may reflect "selection for advancement and career ascension in the U.S. Army: professional competency and doing a good job, interpersonal leadership and communication skills, being known by your good reputation, taking and doing well in the tough jobs, luck and/or good timing, not aspiring to make general officer, and mentoring."
