54 hour course gives the students the opportunity to broaden their base of tactical knowledge and examine, in some depth, the many considerations which must be taken into account when making tactical decisions and plans. It capitolizes on previous CGSOC insruction and combines small group seminars, discussions, historical examples, and practical exercises to analyze doctrinal concepts, to apply them in the development of courses of action and concepts of the operation, and to use these products to further develop synchronization through the use of rehearsal. The course uses corps, division, and brigade-level planning to stress tactical concepts that can be used at all levels specifically those related to command and control, deception, river crossing, penetration, encirclement, linkup, retrograde, encircled friendly forces, passage of lines, and counter obstacle operations. A301 also addresses deep and rear operations in a joint and combined environment.
