27 hour course focuses on Sub-Sahara Africa. Students will study historical and current issues effecting the entire continent. The course begins with a study of the history and geography of the region to establish ana cademic foundation to understand current events. Students will study U.S. foreign policy in Africa from both American and African viewpoints. Students will prepare a thirty minute presentation on a major African conflict and a fifty minute class discussing a major issue causing conflict or hardship in Africa. This course is a survey study of continental history, issues and conflict. Course materials consist of: Advance book.
