30 hour course provides in-depth analysis of the US intelligence system and how it operates. Students gain an appreciation for the intricacies of the intelligence community from the national down to the tactical level. Students receive detailed information on divisional, corps, echelons above corps (EAC), and national level collection systems. They analyze the capabilities of each system and how they supported recent operations such as Desert Storm. The method of instruction is a combination of lectures, small group seminars and practical exercises (PEs). During the PE students write an intelligence annex to support a corps level defensive exercise. Special emphasis is placed on the interrelationship of the intelligence system components and how they produce intelligence to assist the tactical commander. Course materials include: Advance sheets; "U.S. Army Intelligence Branch concept" coodinating draft; U.S. Army Intelligence Center "Analysis and Control Element (ACE) functional concept"; "Proposed doctrine and tactics, techniques and procedures for Army battle damage assessment"; "Intelligence sychronization matrix"; FM 34-1 Intelligence and electronic warfare operations; "FM 34-2 Collection management and synchronization planning"; "FM 34-13- Intelligence preparation of the battlefield"; "FM 34-37 Echelons above corps (EAC)" "Intelligence and electronic warfare (IEW) operations; "FM 34-60 counterintelligence".
