This subcourse continues to develop the student's analytic skills by examining the principles and concepts of establishing and attaining military strategic goals for the United States Central Command (USCENTCOM) and the United States European Command (USEUCOM) in North Africa and the Middle East. The goal is improvement of the student's ability to develop ideas, concepts, and principles that will be useful in solving problems at strategic and operational levels. Analysis includes evaluating strategic determinants of policy, developing theater objectives, and employing military forces to attain desired objectives. Political, economic, social, geographic, and military conditions in each theater are examined. Emphasis during lessons 2 and 3 is on regional force planning for USCENTCOM. The resulting analysis is the basic for developing a conceptual campaign plan. Map booklet.
