M311 is a 23-hour course that builds on P030 (COMPS), Combined Arms Fundamentals; P031 (COMPS), Fundamentals of Staff Operations; and P040 (COMPS), Fundamentals of Combat Service Support. To effectively complete this subcourse each student must understand the fundamentals contained in these documents. M311, in turn, provides the student with the basis to enter M315. Its emphasis is on what brigades, divisions, and corps are and why they are organized into combined arms teams. M311 ensures that the student understands the principles of task organization at each level and that he can demonstrate that knowledge. Additionally, M311 introduces the student to the estimate process and the operational terms, graphics, orders, and plans format used to communicate the results of the estimate process. With this as a basis, the student will be prepared to begin corps operations instruction. File includes advance booklet; lesson plans; texts for COMPS P030, P031, and P040; graphic aids appendix; and student handbook, Combat Service Support, Vol I.
