This individual development course surveys Soviet military history against a background of Russian imperial military traditions. It emphasizes the development of Soviet military policy, doctrine, operational art, tactics and force structure during peace and war. The objective of the course is to develop an understanding of the evolution of Soviet military policy, force structure, and tactics in the 20th Century.
