This individual development course emphasizes the importance of geography in political and military decisionmaking. Development of the concept of geopolitics and study of the works of Mahan, MacKinder, and others and their effect on military stratedy are included. Current geographic issues such as the threat to world stability caused by shortages of energy, overpopulation, famine and pollution are examined.
