This 3 semester hour individual development course is the first half of a two-term course in Operations Research Systems Analysis (ORSA). The course will cover the role of probability and statistics in ORSA as it relates to the military decision making process and will explain the use of various computer statistical packages. Course includes: Meetings 1 and 2, Statistical package for the social sciences; Meeting 3, Review descriptive statistics, measures of dispersion, introduction to the theory of sets and venn diagrams; Meeting 4, Combinations, probability and probability distributions; Meeting 5, Sampling concepts and confidence interval estimation; Meeting 6, Testing hypotheses; Meeting 7, Analysis of variance and comparison of several sample percentages; Meeting 8, Nonparametric statistical methods; Meeting 9, Time-series analysis and forecasting; Meeting 10, Reliability.
