Access is restricted. During this individual development course, students analyze Operation Overlord, the Normandy invasion, from conception through execution. Emphasis is given to the planning process and to analyzing the German countermeasures for the expected invasion. The landing is examined in detail using the "eleven basic" decisions outlined in amphibious warfare doctrine. The basic tactical plans of each corps are examined, as are close air support and the problem of breakout.
