20 hour USAR School Phase I subcourse examining use of nuclear and chemical weapons by threat forces and impacting on combat, combat support, and combat service support functions. Considers the effect of nuclear and chemical weapons, their impact on division and corps operations, and the decision making process. Effects of smoke as a combat multiplier on the integrated battlefield is introduced. Areas covered: Soviet NBC threat/US readiness, operational aspects of chemical and biological weapons, decontamination operations, CB clothing encapsulation and collective protection, operational aspects of nuclear weapons, nuclear vulnerability analysis, nuclear package planning, smoke and obscurants, fundamentals of chemical and nuclear weapons, staff operations in a NBC environment.
