This book tells the history of the handling of the Japanese press and of american correspondence by the supreme Command for the Allied Powers. It epitomizes in considerable degree the whole Occupation, in that it reflects the policies and techniques of the government and labor sections of SCAP, reveals several aspects of Japanese national character with general MacArthur's appraisal of it, and evaluates the abilities and attitudes of some of the SCAP personnel.
