Contains information on every aspect of the Navy and Coast Guard from chemical warfare to housing to height of the mainmast on 10,000 ton light cruisers. Indexed by subject with reference to year, page number and reel number. The General Board, a panel of serving naval officers was created in 1900 to act as an advisory committee to the secretary of the navy. These officers studied and issued recommendations on matters involving naval technology, strategy and policy. In 1917 the board began conducting hearings to obtain expert testimony on the questions it considered.
