"In January 1975, Department of the Army and Department of Defense approved continued development of the Tactical Fire Direction System (TACFIRE). As a result of this decision, limited procurement of TACFIRE will take place during the 1975-1976 timeframe. The limited procurement system will incorporate hardware and software modifications designed to improve system performance and effectiveness. The upgraded system will undergo Development Test III/Operational Test III during the period September 1977-May 1978. These two tests will provide the data required for full-scale development and deployment decisions. ...
