Fourth Place Winner of the MacArthur Military Leadership Writing Competition for the CGSC Class 2009 -- 01. Disobedience is the antithesis of the military establishment, an extremely intolerable behaviour in an institution that stresses the values of loyalty, duty and discipline. Yet in today's operational environment such conduct is necessary in certain circumstances, must be tolerated and, sometimes, even forgiven on grounds of ethics and morality.
