The Soviet Army was ill-equipped and unprepared to fight the Mujahedeen in the Afghanistan countryside. The Tactics used by the Soviet Army and the Mujahedeen, with the backing of foreign nations, resulted in the failure of the Soviet Army to gain the support of the Afghan civilians which lead to the stalemate that over a period of time lead to the Soviet withdrawal from Afghanistan. ...
