It is important that we study the history of the Non-Commissioned Officers and the role of the NCOs of the past to help develop better NCOs for the future. By studying our history, we can learn how to become better NCOs for the future. We can also learn many customs and traditions that we have come to respect. As we learn from history, maybe we will not repeat the same mistakes from the past and will continue the make positive contributions, adding to those that past NCOs made. By learning from this history, we put lessons and action into perspective, and we can broaden our minds and education, thus making us more effective NCOs.
