The Army has opened up more Military Occupational Specialties (MOS) for women. Some of these MOSs place women almost directly into combat. Despite the fact that women are serving admirably alongside their male counterparts in Iraq and are confronting the same dangers in many cases, there is still only limited espousal to permit women to serve in combat duty. Is it ethical to say that women shouldn't serve in combat roles in the military? Do we draw the line at ground combat units but accept the fact that they are serving in Forward Support Battalions? The drawn line is starting to blur as we move this war into 2008. As politicians continue to debate this issue, more women are finding themselves in the thick of it somewhere in Iraq.
