The first object of this study is to examine the Army's requirement for air support in the land battle, and to determine whether this support is best provided as at present by the Royal Air Force, or whether it is necessary for the Army to include aircraft within its own establishments. This study has covered operations in Europe, North Africa, and South East Asia Command, with particular attention to the organizations built up by the British and United States field armies and air forces for their intimate co-operation in the land battle. Part II- a study of the roles of air forces in support of armies. Part III- a study of the systems evolved by British and U.S. tactical air forces for co-operation with the Army. Part IV- future trends of aircraft development. Part V- consideration of main problems.
