In this interview, Sergeant Major Michael Clemens gives a riveting story of Operations Turki Bowl II and Minotaur in Iraq's Diyala Province during his 2006-07 deployment as first sergeant for Bravo Troop, 5th Squadron, 73rd Cavalry. Both operations consisted of air assaults and ground movements. The various US units were consistently engaged with small elements of foreign fighters. This time, the Iraqi Army played a key part in the operations and took some heavy losses due to the way they transport soldiers around the battlefield. By the time Clemens left theater, he had awarded 52 Purple Hearts to his soldiers. The operations resulted in the capture of multiple prisoners and a lot of intelligence. He also tells the story about how, with his troop commander injured, he himself temporarily took command under fire.
