The material was obtained from other Army publications and from lectures and conferences prepared by engineer instructors during the courses of 1919-1920-1921. The topography course was not a course of instruction in methods of topography, but in the application of topographical methods to the military art. The text was printed in limited numbers for use as a text at the General Service Schools
