This is a study of a defense and recovery planning problem: the prediction of radiation fields that can be expected inside military structures after contaminating atomic or radiological warfare attack. The study presents an analytical technique, based on graphs, for making such predictions. The technique takes into account the physical parameters of structures and the nature of the radioactive sources on contaminated roofs and surroundings. By suitable combinations of the graphs, a wide variety of practical military situations can be analyzed. Several examples are presented to demonstrate the use of the technique in predicting precountermeasure and postcountermeasure inside radiation fields.
