The history of the 65th Infantry Regiment is a source of pride to the people of Puerto Rico. All commanders, to include Gen Macarthur, revered their actions during the early part of the Korean War. In 1952 the regiment underwent a major transformation of soldiers and some leaders. They quickly reversed their fortune, which culminated in the court martial of 92 soldiers and an effective disbandment of the regiment. What caused such a turnaround in fortune and fighting ability of this once proud regiment? I will answer those questions with three letters: NCO.
